We all know the frustration of applying sunscreen on little ones. They squirm. They whine. They just want to plaaaaaaaay! Well, we are moms too and when we go to the beach, we don't want to struggle with sunscreen any more than we want to struggle with a wet kid's swimsuit when she uses the bathroom or needs a diaper change! Here are some handy strategies to make sunscreen application a tad bit easier...
1. SUN-SAFE CLOTHING
Dress your child in sun-protective clothing such as FASTEN® UPF 50+ One-Piece Swimsuits for Girls, Cover Ups and Sun Hats to minimize the amount of skin that shows, thus having to apply LESS sunscreen.
2. APPLY AHEAD OF TIME
What happens the minute you get to the beach or pool with your kiddos? They want to PLAY RIGHT AWAY! So if you don't mind applying sunscreen to a wiggly worm who is doing anything he/she can to get out of your grasp, go ahead and wait until you get there! If you want to avoid this, apply before getting into the car 😉
3. MAKE IT FUN!
We love this glittery sunscreen from GlitterTots! Your daughter might not care so much about sunscreen if it has a little sparkle in it!
4. SUNSCREEN SPRAY IS ALWAYS AN OPTION
There are plenty of good brands that have spray sunscreen available. This definitely makes it easier to apply. Just make sure to do it outside, and make sure your kids cover their eyes and close their mouths!
5. REAPPLY AT THE RIGHT TIME
It's probably not the best idea to reapply just as your kids are about to jump into the pool. Try timing it during lunch or snack time, or if/when they are sitting on a beach towel or blanket.
6. SUNSCREEN STICK
Sunscreen sticks for your kids' faces are really fast and easy to apply. We love this one from Beautycounter.
