We've all heard of SPF and we know it's important, but do we really know WHY? SPF stands for sun protection factor, which measures the amount of time you can spend outside before the sun-blocking effect wears off. This means that if your sunscreen has SPF 30, your skin can bear the sun for 30 times longer than it would be able to if you weren't wearing any sunscreen. Then there's UPF, which stands for UV protection factor. This applies to clothing, or in our case, girls' bathing suits! If a swimsuit has a UPF rating, that means it tends to be more tightly woven, thus blocking those harmful UV rays. FASTEN® swimsuits, hats, and cover ups have a UPF 50+ rating, offering excellent sun protection!
